Hitty Rose asks Lewis why he is holding such a large Penny.
Lewis tells Hitty Rose on this day in 1909, the Lincoln Penny was first issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of President Lincoln's birthday in 1809.
So...the Bank is giving away this VERY special Penny to all the Hittyville Friends today.
Later...
Ben Franklin wonders if anyone realizes he was the first Friend to design the Penny and it was actually minted way back in 1787.
Oh, well...he knows!
