Happy Birthday, Davy Crockett

Hitty Rose cannot even begin to wonder why Lewis has a raccoon on his head!

Hitty Rose asks Lewis what on earth he is doing.

Lewis explains on this day in 1786, Davy Crockett was born and of course, EVERYONE knows he always wore a coonskin cap.  Lewis doesn't have one of his own, so he did the next best thing to celebrate this great frontiersman's birthday.

Davy Crockett was also a soldier and politician and was known as the King of the Wild Frontier.

Lewis has somehow convinced Hitty Rose to join him in a rousing chorus of the "Ballad of Davy Crockett" and to don a coonskin cap of sorts herself.

Hitty Rose can't believe what she does to make her dearest Lewis happy.

Our raccoon friends can't believe what they do for Lewis as well.
But it sure beats the alternative!

  1. I like Lewis' version better than the original - much more environmentally friendly. (Especially for the raccoon!)

  2. I just found a VHS copy of Disney's Davy Crockett this past Thursday at a Thrift Store. We watched it on Friday. My ten year old son loves it so it was nice to be able to share with him when Davy Crockett was actually born.
Thank you, Linda S. from Canada.
