My Brene Brown Class

The assignment was to think of two times in our distant past when we could have used some serious compassion.
After we chose some type of picture, the next step was to use "compassionate whispers" to make the younger self feel comfort.

I am a bit surprised this memory surfaced during the self-compassion exercise.

For yesterday, today, and tomorrow...

  1. Oh how awful, no student should be dismissed like that! You are right, HE was the problem not you! A good music teacher (or any teacher for that matter) will guide nurture and advise the right direction, everyone has musical skills, it is just tapping into them that is so important. This sort of teacher makes me so cross! It is so sad when you hear people say 'but I am not musical' of course they are, it has just been buried somewhere deep due to unfortunate experiences such as these.

    1. I am glad he did not dampen my musical spirit! I went on to be the lead singer in a girl group...modeled after the Beatles...and sang on television and did a brief tour! I also did some backup singing for a Cleveland recording studio. Those were the days!
