Vicki, how many of these various dolls by Paulette do you actually have? I believe you said she had retired from making them, but you seem to have a lot and so many of them look like special commission portrait dolls that you arranged, but I'm not sure of the whole story having only followed your blog since about February.
ReplyDeleteI notice she now has a CD out explaining how to make a little polymer clay doll--very neat.
Hi Judy...I just went around Hittyville and took a count of my Hittyville Friends made by Paulette and they number VERY CLOSE to 300!!! I didn't realize I had so many! Oh my goodness! I discovered her dolls online about 5 years ago, just as she was starting to make them and had also just come into a small inheritance, so I was at the right place at the right time! I asked Paulette if she would make my family for me...my parents had just passed away within 9 months of one another...sent pictures of when we were all younger...and Paulette said she would love the challenge! Most of my dolls are special commissioned. Her dolls are really the heart and soul of Hittyville and I truly believe we were meant to cross paths on this earthly journey. I LOVE Paulette and was devastated when she stopped making my kind of dolls...however...totally understood her need to grow creatively. She is multi-talented and does MANY things!
DeleteNow when I think of a character, I have to be stop and remember....and be grateful for ALL the dolls I do have!
Maybe...just maybe...there will be a few more someday...One can only hope!
Holy smoke, I didn't realize that you had so many. I noticed the ones of your parents--they must be very special to you.
ReplyDeleteI used to sell some sewing online, and sold about 80 small bags (all one-of-a-kind with embroidery and miniature patchwork) and made about 100 total. It gets repetitive. Often things that are made by hand are undervalued, which gets defeating too. I can understand why Paulette packed it in and went on to other things.
