Governor Hitty's Idea

Governor Hitty has chosen a special committee to discuss the possibility of establishing a Hittyville Ladies Hall of Fame.

On this day in 1969, the National Women's Hall of Fame was founded in Seneca Falls, New York.  American citizens have been chosen based on their contributions to our country.
Governor Hitty is sure her Friends are familiar with some of the inducted members.

Clara Barton was a pioneer American nurse and humanitarian.

Amelia Earhart was an aviation pioneer and author.  She was the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

Nelly Bly wrote about her record trip around the world in 72 days competing with Jules Verne's character, Phileas Fogg, in Around the World in 80 Days.
This newspaper woman and author also faked an insanity condition so she would be admitted to a hospital ward for the insane and wrote a scathing expose which revolutionized funding for the mentally ill.

Vicki believes Hittyville has many outstanding Lady Friends of their own.

Miss Hickory was largely responsible for founding Hittyville, along with Governor Hitty...who has refused to be considered for this honor, as it was her idea.

Vicki also insists Paulette would be an excellent candidate.  Her dolls have revolutionized doll play across Hittyville and the entire world.

Della Street can think of no stronger candidate than Hitty Gertrude Bell.

Dr. Bell is the world's leading archaeologist and founder and director of The Hittyville Museum.

Bella Merry has two suggestions.

Penelope the Time Traveler is the first Lady Time Traveler in the entire world.  She is the leading teacher of Time Travel and trained Bella's husband, Thomas, who is a Time Traveler as well.

Granny Pickle is a pioneer in breeding chickens for their eggs and her latest breed, the Hittyville Hens, are in great demand throughout the country.
Granny Pickle is also a renowned Chef and author of several cookbooks.
And...this talented Friend owns and operates The Hittyville Café.

Governor Hitty is more than pleased with the committee's suggestions and suggests firming up plans and nominations at their next meeting.

It is important to remember ALL Hittyville Friends are special, but it is nice to recognize some outstanding achievements.
