Gramps Miller is measuring the picnic table in Butterfly Forest. He wants to build a table just this size for his grandchildren.
Gramps explains on this day in 1868, a patent for the spring tape measure was awarded to Alvin J. Fellows. This handy dandy way to measure replaced the cumbersome yardstick Friends used to carry around with them to measure things.
Rosie thinks measuring is such fun! She is going to measure her Dolls, Sock Monkey...and then all her brothers and sisters at home!
Gramps Miller hopes everyone will be as "willing" to be measured as Rosie's little Friends.
I love the introduction of these historical facts into your story posts Vicki. I am learning all sorts of things.
