Today's Story Square

Meet my needle felted doll, Rosamund...

Abe Has an Idea...and a Bath

 Hello Friends!
Here I am at my school having the greatest time because I am playing with cars.  I think I will race them.

You know, these school cars are okay, but what I really need are my very own home cars.

I wonder if my teachers would call Mommy and ask her to go home and bring me my cars.
Oh...on second thought, that might not be such a good idea.
I don't know Mommy's cell phone number and I don't know enough words to make myself very clear.
I need to get busy and grow up some more!
I guess these school cars will have to do...

That evening...
Hello again!  I sure do love my bath.  And by the way, I am glad I did not interrupt Mommy today.  I heard her tell Daddy she went to an important meeting about helping high school students and it was very productive...which I think is a good thing because Mommy was smiling.

But I am going to put some of my home cars in my backpack tonight...after Mommy puts my pajamas on.

See you later!
~Love from Abe~

My Faith Journal

An Apple Family Adventure

Today is Opening Day at The Apple Family Bakery.
The ladies are beyond excited!

Granny cannot believe there is a line forming at the take-out window and they don't officially open their doors for a half hour.

Virginia hopes she has baked enough pastries.

Cherry is ready to load up the Little Pastry Cart for Betsy and Grace.

A bit later...
Ready to go!

~Let the fun begin~

Today's Story Square

Jimby is a very old friend of mine...

An Apple Family Adventure

Granny Apple is happy with the new menus and is enjoying a sample of the bakery's pastry.

Virginia is doing a test run of many of the baked goods to make sure the recipes are just right and the oven is working as it should.

Cherry checks to see if she needs to shop for more milk and eggs.
She does.

Betsy and Grace are beyond excited with their new "job".  The girls will be in charge of the pastry cart which they will rotate through different areas of Hittyville...mainly on the weekends.
Their mothers hope the pastry cart will introduce all the Hittyville Friends to The Apple Family Bakery.
Betsy and Grace are honored to be entrusted with this very important responsibility!

~The bakery is definitely a family affair~

The Best Part of My Day

This picture totally embraces the light and love I feel during my daily hour of prayer and Bible reading.  I have always been a spiritual person, but my journey of faith has deepened beyond anything I ever expected.
My heart is filled with gratitude...

Lunch Time Fun

I needed a new lunch time television show and happened upon Hart to Hart.  I loved this series, but didn't see all that many episodes.  It ran from 1979-1984 and starred Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers as Jonathan and Jennifer Hart...globe trotting amateur detectives madly in love with one another!  Lionel Stander played their butler/friend, Max, and then there was Freeway...the Hart's beloved dog.
Hart to Hart is fun, campy, and always has a happy ending....my kind of show!

Organizing My Betty Lukens Materials

I am busy cutting out felt story pieces and finally checked the CD which accompanied all the fabric, etc. and am so pleased with the printables!  I am putting them into a notebook and will let the Hittyville Friends do the coloring and activity sheets.
Really!

Today's Story Square

I am totally enchanted with the Mooshka dolls!

A Walton Family Adventure

Olivia and Grandma Walton are discussing Elizabeth's latest obsession...Nancy Drew books.

Mary Ellen has told her mother that Nancy Drew actually lives in the Borough of Hittyville Acres and they have become friends.
Wait until Elizabeth hears that bit of news.

Meanwhile...
Elizabeth is almost done reading the latest Nancy Drew book and can't wait for the next one to be published.

Elizabeth announces she is going to write Nancy Drew a letter and let the author/detective know how much she loves her mystery stories.

Jason informs his sister she doesn't need to write Nancy Drew a letter at all.

Mary Ellen shared with Jason she has become friends with Nancy Drew and she lives in Hittyville Acres.

Later...
Elizabeth asks John Boy if he would drive her to Nancy Drew's house as soon as possible.
John Boy thinks Mary Ellen should introduce her to the famous detective.  They are friends, after all.

And then...
Elizabeth cannot believe her eyes!  Nancy Drew is in her very own yard!  She looks just like her picture on the book jacket.

Mary Ellen introduces Nancy Drew to her siblings and mentions Elizabeth is a big fan of her books and her own brother, John Boy, is also a writer.

 Elizabeth is speechless...

John Boy had no idea Nancy Drew was such a beautiful as well as talented young woman.

A bit later...
John Boy and Nancy Drew can't stop talking about their common interest in writing and for that matter, everything else under the sun!

Elizabeth wanted to ask Nancy Drew about becoming a Junior Detective, but guesses she will have to wait until John Boy isn't around.

Mary Ellen was going to show Nancy Drew around Walton's Mountain.  The author is thinking about her next mystery and thought it might be fun to have some of the story set on a mountainside.
 It obviously won't be today.

John Boy calls out to his sisters he is going to show Nancy Drew around Walton's Mountain.

Mary Ellen asks Elizabeth if she would like to go to Ike's and get an ice cream cone.
Elizabeth thinks that's a grand idea!

~Spending time with Nancy Drew will have to wait until another day~

Sweet Little Lily

Our Lyn-Way Friends, the Benshoffs, have the most beautiful granddaughter and Brooke couldn't resist scooping precious Lily up into her arms...

Look at that adorable face...
~Love~

A Girl's Best Friend

Brooke and Tibs share a special bond.
Pure contentment...

Our Team Won!

I don't always watch an entire football game, but last night I did...
Even our hometown newspaper was celebrating!

From what I understand, the Hittyville Friends had a big Ohio State Football Party and watched the game, too!
Lewis is the Buckeye's biggest cheerleader...

~It was the best of football games~

I love my Rosie doll!

Yet Another Snow Day

This is Ashland's THIRD snow day in less than a week!
The roads were horrible this morning with a glaze of ice everywhere...
It is always better to be safe than sorry with our hilly country roads.
I am sure there was much cheering from children and teachers alike when the school closings were announced!

Critter Hollow's Big Surprise

Grandpa and Granny Small, along with Mr. and Mrs. Small, cannot believe their eyes!

A castle seems to have popped up next door overnight and the Smalls have so many questions.

Fairy Princess Blue hopes the Princess Castle is pleasing to the eye.  The  Royal Family designed it to blend into Critter Hollow and hope to be of service to all the Critter Hollow Friends.

Meanwhile...
Molly Mouse is also surprised by her new neighbors sudden appearance and introduces herself to the lovely Princesses.

Princess Elizabeth is pleased to meet Molly Mouse and has already placed a very large order of groceries from her shop.
The Princesses want to be good neighbors!

Later...
Grandpa and Granny Small officially welcome the Royal Family to Critter Hollow on behalf of the Small Family.

The Smalls wonder if their grandchildren may pay a visit to the castle sometime soon.

The Princesses insist the children visit them that very afternoon.

A few hours later...
The Small Triplets...Freddie, Ellie, and Georgie...are totally intrigued with Princess Kitty.
Their new feline friend just changed the turtle into a frog and then back into a turtle!

The younger Small Twins...Diana and Carter...are amazed by the most talented bird they have ever heard.  Fairy Princess Polly's pet can sing every song they name!

The older Small Twins...Bess and Andy...are speechless!  Princess Foxy's pet owl, Owly, is a flying encyclopedia.  There isn't a question she can't answer!

Fairy Princess Blue and Fairy Princess Polly are enchanted with little Hildy.
She is the most magical creature of all.

And then...
The Princesses thank Mr. and Mrs. Small for the tour of their home and hope they can all get together soon for a neighborhood gathering.

The Princess Castle was the best of surprises!
